Sainsbury's open for business at The Crescent, Hinckley

Scores of excited people and special guests queued to get a glimpse of the new Sainsbury's at The Crescent as it was officially opened this morning.

More than a hundred people piled into the flagship store at 9am as 10-year-old Burbage schoolboy Josh Harris, who designed the store's inaugural limited edition bag for life, cut the ribbon.

Regional manager Ian Barlow said:

"I am so proud of all who made this happen, it's a fantastic addition to Hinckley and the store looks absolutely superb - so thank you to all and good luck."

Dozens of councillors and special guests filled the shop to see the store that the town has been dreaming of for so many years.

Leader of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council Mike Hall said :

"I hope it attracts a lot of people to the town who have not been here before and who will take the opportunity to explore what the rest of the town has to offer.

"I think it looks great and it's excellent so many local people have been employed. With the cinema, leisure centre and the rest of The Crescent opening soon it's an exciting time for the town."
