DPD given green light for Optimus Point

Wilson Bowden Developments are pleased to confirm that a 60,010 sq ft unit for DPD has been granted planning permission at Optimus Point, Leicester.

One of the UK's leading parcel distribution businesses, the bespoke logistics and distribution warehouse will replace DPD's existing operation at nearby Meridian Business Park.

Planning Director, David Ward said:

"This development will build on the ongoing success of Wilson Bowden's Optimus Point employment site.

"We have seen significant development since the site opened in 2014, and we look forward to welcoming DPD to join the businesses already here enjoying its superb location, access and high quality setting."

This will be the latest warehouse to go up on Optimus Point, a 65 acre site adjacent to M1 J21a / A46 which could eventually create up to 2,300 jobs. The site continues to meet the growing needs of employers and investors in the area, with companies onsite including Boden, Everards and Gearys Bakery.

Blaby District Council's Group Manager for planning and economic development, Cat Hartley said:

"The approval of the development is excellent news as it will see DPD remain in the district at Optimus Point.

"They have been part of our local area for over 20 years and the new development will ensure existing jobs will remain within the District of Blaby, as well as the creation of new jobs that are anticipated to come from this move."

Works will start on site Autumn 2017, with completion anticipated for Summer 2017.
