Textile supplier takes 40,000 sq ft at Kingsway

Cleland McIver Lifestyle, which works with clients such as Dunelm, has acquired a 40,000 sq ft warehouse at Rochdale's Kingsway Business Park for £4m.

The company has purchased space at the speculative Plot K on the business park from the Kingsway Partnership, which is made up of Rochdale Development Agency, Rochdale Borough Council, the HCA and Wilson Bowden.

Plot K, which was built speculatively and funded by Ropemaker, was completed in December last year, and includes four warehouses ranging between 35,000 sq ft and 75,000 sq ft.

Paul Daye of appointed agents P3 said:

"Cleland McIver Lifestyle is an ambitious and successful local business that had been looking to expand its operations and was keen to remain within the area.

"Plot K is an important phase of Kingsway Business Park as it provides immediate occupation solutions for the North West logistics and manufacturing market.

Other businesses at Kingsway include Asda, EON, JD Sports, and Source Bio-Science.

The 420-acre business park off the M62 also includes a 216,000 sq ft warehouse, which was completed last July by Wilson Bowden Developments and Rochdale Council. Bowmer & Kirkland acted as main contractor.

The speculative unit was backed by a £18.5m investment from Standard Life, but is yet to be let.
